Giving Thanks

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! I hope that all of you who celebrate this holiday are spending the day with family or friends and eating a delightful feast. If you don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, I highly recommend that you take it up. A holiday to sit around with your favorite people, eat a big meal together, and give thanks for all the blessings in your life is definitely one that ought to be celebrated far and wide. (Or maybe you don’t have to celebrate Thanksgiving because you just do that normally anyway, in which case I want to be you.)

This has been a particularly blessed year for me, but this Thanksgiving will be slightly different. I won’t be eating turkey–instead, I will be celebrating by going kayaking in this place:

Personal photo. Yes, it rained on us, but I did see a penguin, so that made up for it.

Okay, I suppose it’s possible that I could find turkey for dinner on a menu somewhere once I’m finished with the kayaking. Who knows. Anyway, I’m very thankful to get to go on this cool honeymoon to New Zealand. And most of all, I’m thankful for my family, friends and my shiny new husband, the brave soul who (for some reason) decided he wanted to be stuck with me.

(On a side note, I actually had this really cute idea for a Thanksgiving illustration and I even had it all sketched out but I ran out of time before vacation to paint it. Sorry. I know you’re heartbroken. I promise I’ll make something fun for the next holiday that comes around.)
